Yamaha Team Gets New Sponsor
A rather interesting situation has developed for a racing team in Malaysia that races motocross bikes when Petronas, a gigantic Malaysian petroleum company suggested that it would not renew its sponsorship of the Yamaha MotoGP factory team in the New Year after it had been with the team for at least three seasons. The team always used authentic Yamaha parts and cycles and was called the Cross Tuning Forks.
Although it is likely that Yamaha has been able to find a replacement sponsor without too much trouble, the departure of the Malaysian petroleum company as the primary sponsor is surprising for many on the team who have suggested that the relationship between the team and the sponsorship company was going well. It is likely that the team will be sponsored by a different company in the realm of oil when Japanese oil company Eneos will pick up sponsorship of the team for the new season.
So far there have been a few different companies that Eneos has sponsored and the company is also involved in the Japanese Super GT racing circuit and will likely back that segment of the racing world again. There will also be a lot of work done in the intervening time between seasons when the team will likely have to design a new color scheme that will distinguish itself from the color scheme that is currently used by Honda, which has been an arch rival against Yamaha in the racing world for quite some time with the companies enjoying healthy competition.
